Job summary

UES is seeking a Field Technician I to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates. You will collect samples, document results, and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Role involves extensive travel to job sites and outdoor work, with ongoing training and development opportunities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and with a team in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in construction, engineering, geology, or related field is a plus.
• 0–3 years in field-based outdoor roles preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; ability to operate company vehicles safely.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing or ability to obtain within set time.
• Commitment to workplace safety and OSHA standards; proper PPE usage.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Field Data Collection (FDC) tools.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and technical docs related to drilling and inspections.
• Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates to verify specs.
• Collect, label, and transport samples to laboratories.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment per guidelines.
• Prepare and submit detailed test reports, logs, and presentations.
• Communicate status and issues with dispatch and project managers.
• Adhere to project timelines and safety protocols; utilize PPE.
• Operate and maintain assigned company vehicle; perform routine maintenance.
