Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Lab Associate I. The role is 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday with rotational weekend shifts. Pay starts at $17.20+ per hour, with eligibility for annual performance bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

The position supports general laboratory operations, including sample preparation, labeling, testing assistance, data entry, and inventory management. Strong attention to detail and basic lab equipment know-how are essential.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of operating non-complex equipment.
• 1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required). Some College Courses Two to three years preferred (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepares and organizes samples for testing, e.g., rack samples, aliquoting, tube preparation.
• Labels, handles, processes or prepares, transports and stores specimens.
• Identifies sample problems and assists in resolving appropriately.
• Prepares testing equipment and assists with preventive maintenance; notifies staff of equipment problems.
• Assists licensed personnel or delegated supervisor in pre- and post-analytic testing activities (CA vs non-CA).
• Prepares reagents and controls; submits documentation for approval to use.
• Maintains records of reagents/media and supplies; manages inventory and restocks.
• Sorts and accessiones specimens into LIS; delivers to testing areas.
• Data entry or transcription for data reduction; prepares for review by licensed personnel.
• Tallies workload data and prepares reports; assists in quality control.
• Prepares protocols/logs; identifies specimen problems and escalates as needed.
• Answer phones and handle messages; maintains confidentiality.
• Keeps laboratory areas neat, clean, and organized.
• Complies with health and safety policies; uses PPE.
• Other duties as assigned.
