Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare is seeking an experienced Lab Support Assistant to join a dynamic laboratory team in Lafayette, Colorado. You will support advanced specimen processing, phlebotomy, and various diagnostic tests while acting as a resource and trainer for staff, clinicians, and patients.

The role includes leading special projects, coordinating training, and driving continuous improvement initiatives, with overnight shifts on a 7 on/7 off schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated prior experience in clinical or pathology lab assistant role.
• Experience teaching Laboratory testing concepts to others.
• Customer service experience.
• Laboratory testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived and moderately complex diagnostic testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Molecular Diagnostics.
• Maintain competency and perform instrument maintenance and quality control.
• Provide clerical, administrative, and customer service support; answer phones and assist nursing staff, physicians, couriers, and patients.
• Coordinate dispatch of couriers and support patient interactions with empathy.
• Train and orient new caregivers; assist in schedule management and shift coverage.
• Lead process improvement initiatives within the laboratory. Implement improvements beyond the lab as needed.
