Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated experience as a Lab Assistant within a healthcare system.
• Experience teaching concepts to others.
• Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Uses EMR/LIS to place orders, receive and route specimens, track and label specimens.
• Provides clerical, administrative, and customer service support to the department.
• Communicates procedures to patients and caregivers with empathy.
• Monitors and maintains supply inventory; may track usage and place orders.
• May perform waived testing and specimen collection (venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, throat swabs).
• Trains and orients new caregivers.
