Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Laboratory Operations Coordinator to support a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers in providing a safe, organized laboratory environment. You will manage workflows, inventory, and instrument maintenance while coordinating with teams across the Asymmetric Operations Sector (AOS).

You will oversee day-to-day lab operations, support procurement, and drive safety culture through streamlined procedures and service

Qualifications

• Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Have 1+ years of experience in a biological and/or chemical laboratory.
• Have experience operating and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation.
• Have experience in environmental health, occupational health, safety, chemistry, biology, or related fields.
• Have experience preparing written reports detailing test results.
• Are self-motivated and work well in a team.
• Have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Are proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Can obtain a Secret level security clearance with U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of laboratories including BSL2/BSL2+, chemical, and health engineering facilities.
• Organize equipment maintenance and service contracts.
• Support general procurement needs.
• Coordinate with environmental health and safety office to ensure best safety practices.
• Develop procedures to optimize laboratory function for multi-disciplinary work.
• Facilitate a culture that promotes safety.
