Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an Infrastructure Operations Manager to oversee large-scale laboratory and infrastructure projects within REDD. You will partner with scientists, engineers, architects, and construction professionals to plan, coordinate, and deliver critical facilities enabling cutting-edge research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Facilities Management, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent).
• 6+ years of experience supporting complex laboratory, infrastructure, or capital projects.
• Experience leading infrastructure initiatives from concept through design, execution, and handover.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management; ability to brief executives.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project (or equivalent).
• Eligibility to obtain a Secret level security clearance (US citizenship).

Responsibilities

• Represent REDD for complex laboratory infrastructure projects across planning, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout.
• Coordinate with BCFD Project Managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and enterprise departments; deliver executive briefings on status, risks, and execution.
• Lead cross-functional teams to translate technical requirements into practical facility solutions and engage early in proposal development.
• Coordinate planning, budgeting, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, occupancy, and closeout across organizations.
• Review facility designs and construction docs to ensure safety, readiness, and operational requirements are met.
• Develop partnerships across REDD and APL and advise on laboratory infrastructure planning and project execution.
