Job summary

Piedmont Columbus Midtown is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection and processing in a regulated clinical lab setting. You will obtain blood samples, prepare specimens, and help the technical staff with non-clinical tasks.

Required is a high school diploma or GED; phlebotomy certification is preferred, with knowledge of venipuncture and clinical lab processes. Prior healthcare experience is advantageous in this role.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification preferred (ASCP/ASPT/NCA or equivalent).
• Basic venipuncture/phlebotomy knowledge preferred.
• Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes preferred.
• Experience performing EKGs preferred.
• Healthcare or clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests per CMS/CLIA/OSHA standards.
• Performs venipunctures and prepares blood specimens per Piedmont policies.
• Assists technical staff in non-clinical tasks.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA ?88), OSHA and the Georgia Department of Community Health and other applicable regulatory, established standards as may be applicable. Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures. Assists technical staff in non-clinical tasks.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School graduate or GED

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
None

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ASPT, NCA or equivalent agency is preferred.
Basic knowledge of venipuncture/phlebotomy is preferred.
Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes is preferred.
Experience in performing EKGs is preferred.
Experience working in healthcare or clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
