Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare Columbus Midtown is seeking a phlebotomy technician to join the clinical laboratory team. You will perform venipunctures, process samples, and assist staff in non-clinical tasks to support patient care.

Preference is given to candidates with EKG experience and knowledge of laboratory processes; high school diploma is required. Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• None of the licensure is required by law.
• Phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ASPT, NCA or equivalent preferred.
• Basic knowledge of venipuncture/phlebotomy preferred.
• Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes preferred.
• Experience in performing EKGs and healthcare/clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS CLIA and OSHA standards.
• Performs venipunctures and collects/prepares blood specimens per Piedmont policies.
• Assists technical staff with non-clinical tasks.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA ?88), OSHA and the Georgia Department of Community Health and other applicable regulatory, established standards as may be applicable. Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures. Assists technical staff in non-clinical tasks.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ASPT, NCA or equivalent agency is preferred.

Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes is preferred.
Experience in performing EKGs is preferred.
