Job summary

The Flying-Food-Group- in Hawaii seeks a Cook’s Helper to support kitchen staff with ingredient prep, sanitation, and HACCP-compliant handling.

Responsibilities include measuring ingredients, labeling and storing foods, setting up cooking stations, and assisting with equipment operation while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

This role is full-time, non-exempt, and requires ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety procedures.
• Experience with reading and following English instructions.
• Ability to measure and weigh ingredients accurately.
• Strong math skills for recipes and portions.
• Good communication and teamwork in a kitchen.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks by providing ingredients, tools, and equipment as needed.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Wash, slice, weigh, and measure ingredients as directed.
• Prepare meats, seafood, vegetables following recipes or specs.
• Measure and portion ingredients per production needs.
• Label, store, and date foods per HACCP standards.
• Set up and break down cooking stations; operate equipment under supervision.
• Follow sanitation, hygiene, and PPE protocols; ensure safety in work area.
• Communicate task status and inventory needs with team.
