Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to inspire customers through every stage of their culinary experience. You will support chefs, engage with guests, and keep a clean, organized kitchen setting while contributing to class operations and guest satisfaction.

The role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and a customer-first mindset, with flexibility across 12–16 hours weekly, including nights and weekends, and a wage of $16.80–$17.87 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1 year retail sales experience preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Strong communication, problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Maintain product knowledge by training and seeking resources.
• Ensure exceptional customer experience by leading a guest-obsessed culture in kitchen and retail sales floor.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive repeat visits and positive feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by ensuring high enrollment, positive reviews, and guest return rates.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals with KPIs such as individual sales volume, average transaction value, and conversion rates.
• Set up and breakdown of classes including mise en place, ingredient prep, and cleaning workstations.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and equipment promptly to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Restock, organize, and maintain kitchen supplies and tools.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation regulations.
• Handle liquor, wine, and beer per state regulations where applicable.
• Maintain inventory levels, minimize shrink, and control costs.
• Adhere to wage and hour laws and record time accurately.
• Model and adhere to Sur La Table SOPs.
