Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support chefs and guests across classes and in-store experiences. You’ll help with mise en place, prep, and keeping a clean, organized kitchen environment while engaging customers and delivering a high level of hospitality.

Ideal candidates bring 1 year of retail and/or kitchen operations exposure, strong communication, and a passion for community engagement. Schedule is 12–16 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• 1 year retail sales experience, preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience, preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable experiences that inspire repeat visits.
• Stay current on products through training and independent learning.
• Lead a guest-obsessed culture in both kitchen and retail sales floor.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive repeat visits and positive feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by ensuring high enrollment and positive reviews.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals contributing to store revenue.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of classes, prep, and cleaning.
• Maintain food safety standards and sanitation; handle inventory and supplies.
