Job summary

Lilly Technology Center – North in Indianapolis is seeking a Kilo Lab Technician to support startup activities for the Lilly Medicine Foundry. You will operate manufacturing equipment, adhere to cGMP, and collaborate across labs to bring API production online with safety and quality as priorities.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, experience with solvents and large equipment, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of direct manufacturing experience; GMP and/or chemical processing strongly preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly does not anticipate visa sponsorship.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience handling solvents and large equipment.

Responsibilities

• Adhering to safety, quality, and environmental requirements and escalating adverse events.
• Operating processes and equipment per batch records, SOPs, and work instructions to meet production schedules.
• Conducting lab or pilot plant experiments and maintaining notebooks with summaries for supervisors.
• Dispensing materials and executing directions, including material testing and scale-up to pilot plant level.
• Completing daily monitoring, testing, and cleaning to keep equipment in good condition.
• Assembling/disassembling machinery and demonstrating strong mechanical ability.
• Promoting a safety-focused culture and compliant operations at the site.
• Troubleshooting and responding to process upsets, escalating as needed.
• Following procedures for safety event reporting and emergency response when required.
• Ensuring clear communication during shift changes and active participation in daily huddles.
• Ensuring all personnel follow cGMP, safe work habits, and site housekeeping standards.
• Summarizing and tabulating data; coordinating with labs and support groups.
• Interpreting data and suggesting improvements in testing, equipment, and processes.
• Planning work with increasing independence and managing multiple tasks.
• Participating in safety audits, procedure coordination, and continuous improvement projects.
• Using computer systems for development activities, including DeltaV and PI.
• Wearing company-provided PPE and performing clean room gowning and respirator use as required.
