Job summary

Lilly Medicine Foundry in Lebanon, IN is seeking a Process Engineer to support the pilot plant with kilo lab and HP Lab operations. You will solve scale-up challenges, develop process knowledge, and optimize synthesis, crystallization, distillation, and isolation steps for small-molecule APIs.

You will ensure safety and regulatory compliance, design equipment, and collaborate across disciplines to meet startup and manufacturing goals in a GMP environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in chemical engineering or related discipline with 1–4 years in pharma process engineering for API manufacturing or development.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Lilly does not sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate scale-up feasibility and rig fit for new chemistries by analyzing data and running kinetic, mass-transfer, and heat-transfer modeling.
• Design, test and install new equipment to meet evolving portfolio and reaction needs.
• Operate kilo-scale reactors and related systems, collaborating with Kilo Lab and HP Lab chemists.
• Engineer containment and safe-handling for HP API operations, including isolators and glove boxes.
• Optimize crystallization, distillation, extraction, and isolation steps; close mass balances and track impurities.
• Ensure quality, safety, and cGMP compliance; prepare technical reports and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with HSE, QA, Tech Services, Development, Operations, Automation, and Manufacturing to drive project plans.
