Job Description: KHI MEDICAL Traveling Construction Foreman

Summary

KHI Medical is a growing medical construction company specializing in renovating operating rooms and installing surgical equipment nationwide. Our team is expanding due to our principles of quality service, integrity, transparency, and hard work focused on superior customer satisfaction. We are seeking a construction foreman capable of managing work while collaborating with the crew and small renovation teams. Candidates should have a construction background and familiarity with electrical work, structural steelwork, and reading blueprints.

Job Purpose

KHI Construction Foremen are crucial to our success, acting as the company's face while ensuring that workers, subcontractors, material deliveries, and on-site activities are on schedule. They lead small teams on projects ranging from equipment installation (such as surgical booms, lights, and computers) to complete Operating Room demos and renovations. Foremen must plan, communicate, execute, and debrief effectively to ensure consistency. They also represent KHIM to clients and handle administrative and communication tasks to build trust and encourage repeat business.

Key Attributes of a KHI Construction Foreman

Foremen must be construction experts capable of leading teams of medical equipment technicians, network specialists, and subcontractors. They should facilitate success, uphold high standards of quality, hold team members accountable, and foster teamwork and achievement. Specific requirements include:

  • Experience and knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Understanding of building codes related to electrical, fire suppression, medical gases, etc.
  • Preparation and planning before work to ensure efficiency on-site.
  • Effective communication of plans with team members and clients prior to work.
  • Managing changes according to KHI priorities (client satisfaction, efficiency, safety).
  • Providing clients with regular updates via in-person, email, and online communication.
  • Debriefing with crew, management, and clients to identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School diploma or college degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • At least three years in a leadership role preferred.
  • Ability to travel out of town 80% or more of the time.
  • Experience working alongside teams installing equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read plans, interpret instructions, and follow scope of work.
  • Capacity to assess scope changes and request change orders.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet project milestones (nationwide).
  • Ability to work in crouched or kneeling positions and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Proficiency in Computer Use
  • Google Drive, Google Calendar, Word, Spreadsheets, Email, Internet.
Compensation
  • Starting salary ranges from $60k to $85k, based on experience.
