Job Description: KHI MEDICAL Traveling Construction Foreman


Summary

KHI Medical is a growing medical construction company specializing in renovating operating rooms and installing surgical equipment nationwide. Our team is expanding due to our principles of quality service, integrity, transparency, and hard work focused on superior customer satisfaction. We are seeking a construction foreman who can manage projects while working with the crew and small renovation teams. Candidates should have a construction background and familiarity with electrical work, structural steelwork, and reading blueprints.


Job Purpose

KHI Construction Foremen are crucial to our success, representing the company while ensuring that workers, subcontractors, material deliveries, and on-site activities stay on schedule. They lead small teams on projects ranging from equipment installation (surgical booms, lights, computers) to complete operating room demos and renovations. Foremen must plan, communicate, execute, and debrief effectively to maintain consistency. They also represent KHIM in front of clients and handle administrative communications, fostering client trust and encouraging repeat business.

Foremen must be construction experts capable of leading medical equipment technicians, network specialists, and subcontractors. They should facilitate team success, uphold high-quality standards, and promote teamwork and accountability. Specific attributes include:

  • Experience and knowledge of the construction industry
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Understanding of building codes for electrical, fire suppression, medical gas, etc.
  • Preparation and planning prior to work to ensure efficiency
  • Clear communication of plans with team members and clients
  • Managing changes according to KHI priorities (client, efficiency, safety)
  • Providing consistent updates to clients via various communication channels
  • Debriefing with crew, management, and clients to improve processes
Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or college degree

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • At least three years in a leadership role (desired)
  • Willingness and ability to travel out of town 80% or more
  • Ability to work alongside the team installing equipment
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and low-voltage systems
  • Ability to read plans, interpret instructions, and follow scope of work
  • Assess changes in project scope and request change orders appropriately
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet project milestones (nationwide)
  • Ability to work in crouched or kneeling positions and confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
