Location and Work Model: Remote (Texas preferred); travel up to 60% for customer visits, site meetings, and industry events

Role Summary

At MDC Precision, the Key Account Manager owns the full sales cycle for assigned semiconductor customers and strategic prospects—from lead generation through close and expansion. You will partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Success to drive customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and long-term account value across wafer fab equipment (WFE), vacuum components, and related precision solutions. Success requires disciplined prospecting, rigorous account coverage, and actionable reporting that informs senior leadership decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop proposals, pricing/budget models, and commercial terms for assigned semiconductor accounts; manage related correspondence and follow-up.
  • Deliver compelling presentations and RFP responses that diagnose customer problems and position MDC Precision solutions (e.g., vacuum components, gas delivery, motion/positioning, custom assemblies).
  • Build and execute account-level sales plans and forecasts; meet or exceed targets for bookings, margin, and expansion (land-and-expand within business units and sites).
  • Track competitors, technology roadmaps, fab/OSAT investment trends, and relevant regulatory/government activities impacting current and future products.
  • Build and maintain multi-level relationships (engineering, sourcing, quality, program management, executive) within assigned accounts; identify, qualify, and advance new growth opportunities.
  • Conduct sales meetings, product demos, and technical discussions; sell consultatively and recommend optimal configurations in partnership with engineering and applications teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of pipeline activity, calls, presentations, closes, and follow-ups in required CRM and business systems.
  • Serve as program manager/champion for customer-specific initiatives (e.g., Lam RPM, AMAT RTM) to ensure on‑time delivery, quality, and commercial outcomes.
  • Manage customer escalations that require leadership involvement; coordinate cross‑functional response and complete required periodic performance and QBR reports.
  • Represent MDC Precision at industry events, seminars, and trade shows to stay current on semiconductor manufacturing trends and customer needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Professional presence with excellent verbal and written business communication skills (letters, reports, presentations).
  • Strong organization and attention to detail; self‑directed with the ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a fast‑paced, build‑to‑print/engineered‑to‑order environment.
  • Proficient with business software and CRM tools; able to build accurate forecasts and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust, collaborate cross‑functionally, drive execution, innovate, and maintain a strong customer focus.
  • Comfortable in a metrics‑driven environment; effective with stakeholders at all organizational levels, from design engineers to executive sponsors.
  • Strong phone, virtual selling, and remote‑relationship skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5–7 years of sales or customer‑facing leadership experience with a proven track record.
  • Minimum 3 years selling into the semiconductor industry (WFE, vacuum/automation, subsystems, components, or related manufacturing solutions) required.
  • High‑volume phone and consultative selling experience in a transaction‑oriented and program‑driven environment helpful.
  • Existing relationships at Applied Materials and Lam Research preferred; familiarity with their business processes (e.g., supplier portals, qualification, and change control) is a plus.
