Job summary

STV is seeking a seasoned civil engineering design professional to serve as the Kentucky Area Manager for the Transportation Group. You will be the top executive in the state, driving growth, expanding market share, and leading a multidisciplinary team of Engineers across roadways, civil/site, geotechnical, and planning.

You will mentor senior staff, build client relationships, advance proposals, and align operations with STV’s strategic goals while delivering high-quality transportation design

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
• Kentucky professional registration or reciprocity within 6 months.
• 20+ years in relevant market sectors with operations leadership.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
• Proven ability to win new work and grow client relationships.
• P&L ownership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent STV with clients, the industry, and the broader community across Kentucky.
• Work with STV client service team leaders to ensure STV enjoys a robust relationship with its clients.
• Maintain close professional relationships with key people at the client, teaming partner, industry, and community organizations.
• Create and implement plans that align with and achieve STV’s strategic plan objectives.
• Identify, recruit, and develop talent with the aim of growing the business and ensuring a strong line of succession for key leadership roles in the operation.
• Provide effective management of STV’s local business activities, including selection of client mix and services offering, adding new clients, winning new work, execution of projects, hiring locally based personnel, resource planning, and controlling overhead expenditure.
• Ensure the operation adheres to STV’s policies and procedures.
• Identify, mentoring, and training the next generation of future leaders.
• Analyze and understand client, business, and industry issues that potentially affect STV’s business in Kentucky and preparing plans to position STV to capitalize on those trends.
• Assessing the performance of the STV team members and taking action to rectify any shortfalls against expectations and to recognize and promote those of exceptional ability.
• Analyze and reporting on business performance and implementing timely measures to address adverse outcomes to ensure financial goals are achieved.
