Job summary

Dallas ISD is seeking a SPED Self-Contained Classroom Teacher for grades K-8 to collaborate with families and staff to develop and implement IEPs through ARD processes. You will tailor instruction, support students in regular classrooms, and participate in ARD meetings to communicate program goals.

The role requires planning, documenting progress, maintaining compliance with education laws, and sustaining an engaging learning environment while ensuring punctual attendance at the campus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ARD/IEP goal setting and implementation.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of laws and procedures pertaining to auditing.
• Ability to write clear audit work papers and narrative reports.
• Tact and diplomacy with district and non-district personnel.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s degree with Texas teaching certificate and endorsements.
• Flexibility to cope with a changing world.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents and staff to develop IEPs via ARD.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for students.
• Plan and use strategies reflecting students’ learning styles and needs.
• Modify curricula and assist SPED students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD committee meetings and communicate programs to the community.
• Interpret educational programs according to IEP guidelines.
• Conduct assessments and maintain reports and records.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
• Manage student behavior per IEP and intervene as needed.
• Maintain compliance with federal/state/district regulations.
• Ensure regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
