Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a directly related field.
• Valid Texas teacher certificate with required Special Education endorsements.
• One year of student teaching or approved internship.
• Demonstrated willingness to improve competency by professional growth.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ARD/IEP goal setting process.
• Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Demonstrated knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area.
• Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with changing world.
• Willingness to remain current with latest developments in the profession.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs via ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program and show written prep evidence.
• Work with classroom teachers to modify curricula and assist students in regular classes.
• Use varied instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline per IEP.
• Consult with teachers and district resources on education, social, medical, and personal needs.
• Stay compliant with regulations for special education teachers.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Adhere to time and effort reporting and attendance requirements.
