Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a full-time Behavior Intervention Teacher to support the Seaglass Program for K-5 students. The role focuses on short-term interventions to strengthen academic readiness and social-emotional skills while improving behaviors in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three years' experience teaching at-risk or behaviorally challenged students.
• Must have, or be eligible for, a Virginia teacher license (Elementary Education PK-6 or PK-3).
• Comparable training and experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate positive behavioral change in students.
• Provide social-emotional instructional support in a positive environment.
• Develop and implement explicit, intensive behavior interventions with ample practice.
• Collaborate with school staff to support positive behavior development.
• Meet with parents to discuss progress and priorities for students.
• Review referrals and discipline data to monitor student progress.
