Job summary

Alpha hires literacy guides to mentor K–3 students using app-based core learning, spotting gaps, and delivering targeted sequences. You’ll diagnose decoding needs from running records and fluency probes, then teach a short sequence you designed.

This full-time, on-site role emphasizes real-time assessment, ongoing data review, and direct family communication with weekly progress updates.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar settings.
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training or a master’s in reading or literacy.

Responsibilities

• Coaching students through app-based core learning, diagnosing gaps, and unblocking progress.
• Running short structured-literacy sessions with two to four students and checking transfer of learning.
• Leading morning launch, life-skills workshops, and daily routines to keep six-year-olds engaged.
• Driving students toward weekly app goals with gamification and rewards.
• Staying with students through lunch, recess, and closing, addressing frustration with planned strategies.
