Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Assistant, Teacher K-3 (37.5 hrs) to provide instructional support under a teacher or principal. The role involves assisting in meeting standards, reinforcing concepts, and managing classroom activities with a focus on student progress.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s Degree or equivalent and have experience with elementary-aged children. The position is on-site in Charlotte, NC, with an immediate start date and an end date of February 12,

Qualifications

Must have an Associate’s Degree or 48 credit hours or pass a formal assessment (WorkKeys) or NC DOL Apprenticeship Program or NC ATA PD Plan.
Desirable: Associate’s Degree with a concentration in Education; 2+ years working with elementary age children.

Responsibilities

Assist children individually or in small groups to master assignments and reinforce learning.
Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gyms, or on field trips.
Enforce school policies and rules governing students.
Coordinate instructional efforts by discussing duties with classroom teachers.
Instruct and monitor use of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damages.
Observe students’ performance and record data to assess progress.
