Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a K-3 teacher assistant to support instruction under a teacher or principal. You will work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce concepts and monitor progress.

You will also assist with classroom management, supervise students in various settings, handle clerical tasks, and coordinate with teachers to align with standards and available curriculum and technology materials.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Associate's Degree or equivalent as stated.
• Ability to pass a formal assessment (WorkKeys) and in-service training.
• Completion of NC DOL Apprenticeship Program or NC ATA PD plan.

Responsibilities

• Assists children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce concepts.
• Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, or on field trips.
• Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
• Discusses duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Instructs and monitors students in use and care of equipment to prevent injuries and damage.
• Observes students' performance and records data to assess progress.
