Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an Assistant, Teacher K-3 (37.5 hours) to support classroom instruction and student learning. Working under a teacher or principal, you will provide additional help, reinforce concepts, and assist in managing a productive learning environment.

The role involves working individually or in small groups, monitoring progress and supporting curriculum and technology use. Immediate start is available, with candidate alignment to stated duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: Associate’s Degree OR 48 college credits OR equivalent by assessment OR NC DOL Apprenticeship OR NC ATA PD Plan.
• Desirable: Associate’s Degree with Education concentration; 2+ years working with elementary age children.

Responsibilities

• Assists children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and during field trips.
• Follows school policies and supports instructional efforts with teachers.
• Monitors students’ performance and records data to assess progress.
• Instructs and monitors use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries.
• Performs clerical tasks to support teachers.
