Job summary

Alpha School is seeking a Reading Coach to lead structured-reading workshops for K-2 students on-site at multiple campuses. The role focuses on phonics, fluency, and decoding, using AI-adaptive platforms to tailor instruction based on live performance data.

A strong reading credential (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, etc.) or a Master’s in reading instruction is required. The position emphasizes engaging, data-informed small-group instruction, daily motivation sessions, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction within the past 5 years in a school or clinical environment, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy
• Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master's degree in reading instruction

Responsibilities

• Create and facilitate small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy frameworks informed by live student performance data
• Facilitate daily motivation sessions to help students meet weekly adaptive-app targets
• Conduct and evaluate running records, fluency assessments, and decoding diagnostics to monitor progress
• Analyze AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to differentiate instruction dynamically
• Be the approachable, enthusiastic adult your K-2 students are excited to see daily

Education
