Job summary

Alpha School is hiring a Reading Program Coordinator to guide K–3 students through app-based core literacy learning and targeted small-group sessions. You\'ll diagnose gaps, design short sequences, and stay with students through daily routines from launch to closing.

The role emphasizes on-site work, relocation support, and deep literacy expertise. A bachelor\'s degree and structured-literacy training are required, with 3+ years working with young children and 2+ years teaching reading.

Qualifications

• Willing to work on-site at a campus listed above, with relocation support
• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9: teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, child\'s theater, or similar settings
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3, within the last 5 years
• Complete structured-literacy training or master\'s in reading/literacy
• Bachelor\'s degree in any subject; teaching certificate not required
• Comfortable guiding students through app-based learning most of the day; 10% on reading sessions
• Willing to work with all K-3 students, not only struggling readers
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Get every K-3 student to daily learning goals and close reading gaps
• Lead short structured-literacy sessions with small groups, diagnose gaps, teach a designed sequence, check transfer
• Guide morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities for student momentum
• Drive students toward weekly app goals using school currency, leaderboards, and gamification
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing, addressing frustration with proactive plans
