Job summary

Alpha School seeks a Literacy Specialist to guide K–3 students through app-based core learning and close decoding gaps. You will diagnose reading gaps, design short sequences, and monitor progress with weekly data shared with parents.

The role is on-site, five days a week, with relocation support and a focus on structured-literacy instruction. Prior LETRS/IMSE/OG training or a master’s in reading is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 3+ years working with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, or similar settings.
• 2+ years teaching reading in grades K-3 within last 5 years.
• Structured-literacy training or a master’s in reading/literacy.
• Bachelor’s degree; teaching certificate not required.

Responsibilities

• Help students reach daily learning goals and close reading gaps.
• Lead short, structured literacy sessions with small groups (2–4 students).
• Guide students through app-based learning and campus routines during a typical school day.
• Maintain weekly progress data for parents and use it to identify gaps.
