Job summary

Pearson seeks a Specialist within the Content Development team to create and review K-12 assessments for state and district clients, applying AI-assisted content development and collaboration with educators, psychometricians, and Pearson groups.

You will develop items, passages, and test specifications, train writers, and participate in customer meetings, while staying current with AI technologies to ensure accessibility and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience required
• Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred
• Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required
• Some experience in large-scale, educational measurement preferred
• General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred
• Demonstrated excellence in AI-supported content development, or clear evidence of strong potential and readiness to leverage AI effectively in content creation
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education purposes
• Skill in basic software tools and technology and the confidence necessary to work with unfamiliar programs
• Demonstrated interest in learning about and adapting to new AI technologies as they evolve
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with a variety of audiences
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple activities and adapt to unexpected event

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across multiple grade levels for large-scale assessments
• Help develop item, passage, and test specifications and blueprints
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support content development and ensure accessibility
• Collaborate with team to integrate AI-generated assets in assessment workflows
• Select and train item/passage writers and educators
• Facilitate customer meetings and provide content assessment expertise
• Support test construction and review of test forms
• Consult with customers in planning and status reviews
• Work with test development managers, content developers, psychometricians, and Pearson groups
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies in educational content creation
