Job summary

GRID Networks in Reston, VA is seeking an experienced Network and Linux Systems engineer to deploy Juniper devices across existing WANs and support Linux-based infrastructure, virtualization, and automation. The role combines hands-on engineering with cross-team collaboration in a small, versatile team.

You will contribute across a range of infrastructure initiatives, mentor peers, and help design, implement, and operate enterprise-grade network and system solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in network engineering, systems, or related infrastructure roles.
• Strong hands-on experience designing, configuring, and maintaining Juniper-based networks (routing, firewall policies, VPNs, switching).
• Experience managing Linux servers (Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL).
• Experience configuring common open-source tools (Apache, NGINX, Postgres, MariaDB, IPA/IDM, KeyCloak, IPTables, pfSense, WireGuard, IPSec, OpenVPN).
• Experience creating automation with Ansible, AWX, Git, and Foreman.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation, with collaborative teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks; ability to lift and move servers/switches up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to migrate WAN infrastructure to new Juniper platforms (design, planning, execution, documentation, operation, maintenance).
• Mentor peers regarding the new Juniper systems.
• Support and enhance the organization’s network infrastructure.
• Contribute to Linux systems engineering and administration.
• Participate in the full lifecycle of various infrastructure initiatives.
