Job summary

Grid Networks in Reston, VA is seeking a Network and Linux Systems engineer to join a small Infrastructure team. You will design, deploy, and support Linux services, network devices, virtualization, and automation across enterprise-scale environments.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with Cisco/Juniper/Fortigate gear, Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL servers, and open-source tools like Apache, NGINX, Postgres, and OpenVPN. Collaborative problem solving and clear documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in network engineering, systems, or related infrastructure roles.
• Experience configuring, maintaining, and supporting Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, and other enterprise network devices.
• Experience managing Linux servers running Ubuntu, Debian, and RHEL.
• Experience configuring and maintaining common open-source tools and software such as Apache, NGINX, Postgres, MariaDB, IPA/IDM, KeyCloak, IPTables, pfSense, Wireguard, IPSec, and OpenVPN.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deploy, and maintain a wide variety of Linux-based services.
• Support and enhance the organization’s network infrastructure.
• Contribute to Linux systems engineering and administration.
• Participate in the full lifecycle of a variety of infrastructure initiatives.
• Work with software developers, hardware and electrical engineers, and mobile networking engineers to develop and provide products and services.
