Job summary

Leidos seeks a Jr. Transport Network Specialist to support NMCI/SMIT efforts, focusing on planning, designing, and evaluating Navy network components and cyber services. You will help unify shore-based networks and data management across DoD initiatives.

You will monitor Transport, WAN/LAN, and incident health, communicate clearly, and triage events while coordinating with vendors and internal teams to maintain service availability.

Qualifications

• Requires 1-2 years of prior relevant experience or training.
• US Citizen and DoD Secret Clearance.
• Minimum DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification prior to onboarding (listed certifications).
• Familiarity with ITIL best practices (ITIL Foundations).
• Knowledgeable on tools used in Enterprise organization for Event, Incident, and Performance Management including SNMP-based monitoring tools.
• Experience in a DoD environment and understanding of customer communication.
• Experience in a data center environment.
• Familiarity with Network WAN/LAN transport technologies (MPLS, Routing Protocols, Cisco IOS/IOS XE, VLANs, VoIP, Subnet addressing, switching).
• Hands-on DoD networking experience including NIPR and SIPR.
• Willing to perform shift work: -6:00-1800 HST; Shift 4: Thursday-Saturday and every other Wednesday.

Responsibilities

• Monitor events and incidents affecting Network Transport and service health across the Enterprise.
• Monitor WLAN, LAN, WAN to ensure users can perform their mission daily.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Use internal systems to report incidents to leadership and create trouble tickets.
• Perform initial assessment and triage on incident criticality and impact; escalate as needed.
• Escalate to higher tiers as required and liaise with outside vendors.
• Leverage vendor products used in the environment to resolve WAN events and incidents.
• Provide support to Site Operations and external organizations using problem resolution skills.
• Maintain rapid response to network infrastructure warnings and significant events.
• Keep the Critical Situation Manager apprised of significant incident details.
