Job summary

Degenkolb Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer | Designer to join our West Coast and Michigan offices. You will contribute to planning, analysis, and design of structural projects with mentorship and exposure to client collaborations, site visits, and multi-disciplinary teams.

You will gain a strong technical foundation through meaningful project work, candid feedback, and structured development while advancing toward professional licensure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in structural engineering preferred.
• Exceptional candidates with a bachelor's degree and 1–2 years of highly technical structural design experience will be considered if proficiency equals advanced graduate work.
• Core technical proficiency: advanced steel design, reinforced concrete design, structural analysis, structural dynamics, earthquake engineering (West Coast).
• Undergrad GPA 3.40+; transcripts may be requested; strong communication skills; U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design under licensed engineers.
• Produce deliverables and manage tasks within project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients, and document technical work clearly.
• Participate in site visits to observe conditions and link design to field performance.
• Pursue PE licensure through mentoring, feedback, and professional development.
• Take ownership for commitments and contribute to team success.
