Job Summary

The Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) at FIU, a partnership between the Florida SBDC Network and Florida International University, offers at no-cost a team of business consultants who work with entrepreneurs and business owners in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties to help them grow and succeed. FSBDC at FIU also organizes workshops, seminars, networking events and other events in the community to benefit entrepreneurs and business owners in the region. The Junior Special Events Manager is responsible overseeing training and outreach activities related to programs under the center.

  • Schedule, plan and execute community trainings and webinars, including relevant event close outs and reporting.
  • Assist center leadership with preparation of an annual marketing and outreach plan in support of center deliverables, community needs, and contractual goals.
  • Monitor and report on training event performance making recommendations on how to improve the quality of training programs, program attendance, and program attendee survey ratings.
  • Support the streamlining of training/outreach strategies for the center and its community partners, identify commonalities, and develop a set of common protocols.
  • Work with center consultants to collaborate on existing and new workshops that address the needs of the program and the community.
  • Apply strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication, problem-solving, and listening skills.
  • Use Salesforce and Blackthorne software to create, process, and record each training event file in accordance with required policies and procedures.
  • Utilize media platforms, such as Canva and/or Adobe to create event materials and flyers that follows FIU and Florida SBDC Network branding policies and procedures.
  • Network effectively with prospective clients, small businesses, and economic-development partners and stakeholders.
  • Travel throughout Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys as necessary.
  • Regularly work evenings attending meetings and offsite events.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; OR high school degree and four (4) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
