Waymark, a team delivering technology-enabled care for Medicaid beneficiaries, is seeking a Junior Software Engineer. You’ll be paired with a senior engineer, write code, participate in reviews, and learn how our systems fit together from day one.

This role emphasizes curiosity, asking hard questions, and growth within a mission-driven startup. Within six months you’ll ship features for our messaging platform (Elixir), tackle bug tickets across React/TypeScript/Elixir, and collaborate with

Qualifications

• Proven ability to build software through projects or internships.
• Experience with at least one modern web framework (React, Next.js, Phoenix, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ship features and fixes for the messaging platform (Elixir).
• Work on bug tickets across React, TypeScript, Elixir.
• Set up a local development environment mirrored to production.
• Participate in sprint planning and refinement in Jira.
• Contribute to code reviews on GitHub and communicate in standups.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product, and design on upcoming features.
• Work with PostgreSQL as part of the production data layer.
