Job summary

Waystar is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to contribute to the Aware platform. You will design and implement scalable web applications and backend services using VueJS, NodeJS, Java, and AWS, collaborating across engineering, product, and business teams.

You will work independently with strong ownership, focusing on frontend/backend development, testing, and CI/CD, while addressing healthcare domain challenges and ensuring engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related area.
• 7+ years of software development experience.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and system design for scalable web apps and backend services.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency with Java, Spring, NodeJS, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with at least one modern frontend framework (VueJS, React, or Angular).
• Proficient in SQL and relational databases; REST API design.
• Experience with automated testing (JUnit, TestNG, Jest, Vitest, etc.).
• Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Shift Left and test automation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork; proactive ownership.
