Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a qualified engineer to support the project team on smaller, less complex projects. The role emphasizes estimating change impacts, managing change orders, and assisting with procurement and subcontractor selection.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, plus basic ERP and CAD skills and knowledge of HVAC or plumbing design. As a 100% employee-owned company, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including a 401(k) with 50%

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent education, training and experience.
• Basic ERP skills to include inquiring, reviewing and printing job cost reports.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC or plumbing design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing drawings.
• Basic verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office, such as Excel.

Responsibilities

• Estimates the impact of project changes and provides information to applicable management.
• Manages change orders. Ensures they are completed accurately and tracked as required.
• Procures equipment and materials and services; and participates in the selection and hiring of subcontractors.
• Stays current on emerging trends.
• Analyzes and resolves basic questions and problems as needed.
