Job summary

ASM Research seeks a Junior NOC Engineer to monitor enterprise network infrastructure from a network operations center, ensuring high availability for mission-critical services. You will perform initial troubleshooting, document incidents, and escalate issues to senior engineers as needed.

Working in a structured 24x7 operations model, you follow SOPs for routine checks, document actions and outcomes for trend analysis, and collaborate with teammates to improve incident handling in a federal IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in network operations, NOC, or junior network engineering.
• Foundational understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and firewall basics.
• Exposure to Cisco, Juniper, SolarWinds or similar tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with incident documentation.
• US citizenship with current secret clearance (active within past 24 months).
• Current DoD 8180 IAT-II certification (Security+ or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise network devices, circuits, and services using monitoring tools.
• Perform first-line troubleshooting, verify reachability, interface status, and basic config before escalation.
• Execute standard operating procedures for routine NOC tasks and routine health checks.
• Document incidents, changes, and resolutions with clear descriptions.
• Participate in 24x7 coverage with accurate shift logs and concise handoffs.
• Collaborate with senior NOC engineers to gather diagnostics and apply directed troubleshooting.
• Support change and incident management processes to ensure proper recording and approvals.
