Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Process Engineer for its Advanced Solutions Group, with offices in TN, MI, or SC. You will contribute to process system designs for defense, energy, and civilian projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on high-pressure, cryogenic, and high-temperature systems.

You will develop calculations, reports, and drawings, while managing scope, schedules, and budgets under senior engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required to meet government regulations.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Strong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.
• Knowledge of ASME B&PV Code and B31.1/31.3; thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and process systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop new process system designs for research and test facilities.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work under a Senior Engineer.
• Analyze design features and project requirements using sound engineering principles.
• Develop technical reports and presentations for management and clients.
• Collaborate with structural, machine design, controls, and aerodynamics/fluid dynamics engineers.
• Size and specify piping/ducting systems and select related equipment.
• Design high-pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping systems, high-temperature systems, refrigeration and fuel systems.
• Work in fast-paced environment with deadlines; support project management and reviews.
• Gather information, conduct studies, and prepare preliminary layouts and sketches.
