Job summary

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group seeks a Mechanical Process Engineer to design and optimize high‑pressure cryogenic and steam systems, refrigeration, vacuum, and specialty HVAC for automotive and aerospace facilities. You will collaborate with structural, controls, and aerodynamics engineers to deliver on complex projects.

B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace from ABET‑accredited program; 5+ years of experience, or 2–3 years with MS; multi‑discipline teamwork; knowledge of AMSE B31.1/B31.3 and ASME

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, or 2-3 years with an MS degree.
• Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment.
• Knowledge of common process piping systems.
• Strong mechanical and process engineering analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design process and mechanical systems including high-pressure cryogenic and pneumatic piping, high-temperature steam systems, refrigeration, vacuum, and HVAC systems.
• Size and specify piping/ducting, select compressors, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Develop calculations, specifications, and drawings; coordinate engineering work and reviews.
• Provide installation support and collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Lead project teams developing new designs for process systems in automotive and aerospace facilities.
