Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer for the Columbia, MD office to start in Summer 2027. You will assist with design, development, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems across infrastructure and building projects, contributing to documentation and ensuring safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 0–1 year of experience, and are familiar with design software (Revit, AutoCAD, CAM).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0–1 year of post-education experience.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with design/build processes.
  • Knowledge of mechanical codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
  • Clear communication to engineers and non-engineers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Proficiency with basic software, spreadsheets, and office tools.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, CAM.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and policy adherence.
  • Willingness to travel as projects require.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and analysis from site, surveys, schematics, and reports.
  • Conduct basic professional mechanical engineering work and inspections.
  • Support load calculations and operating strategies for equipment and systems.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design issues.
  • Create complete documentation and specifications using electronic systems.
  • Follow safety guidelines and site procedures; complete assigned tasks.
