Job summary

WSP USA in Richmond, VA is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings Team for a Summer 2027 start. You will assist in the design, development, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects.

This entry-level role provides hands-on experience with Revit and AutoCAD, site data collection, and documentation, under supervision, to meet codes and safety standards while growing with a national engineering leader.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience.
  • Familiarity with design/build concepts and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with codes, permits, and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, collect and analyze data from sites, surveys, drawings, and reports for project development.
  • Assist with basic mechanical engineering work related to research, inspections, and conformance with rules and permits.
  • Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical support on design requirements and load calculations.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide basic technical assistance on engineering and construction issues.
  • Generate documentation and specifications using electronic systems and field notes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures; participate in training and development.
