Buchanan Technologies is seeking a junior IT Support Specialist to join a manufacturing IT team in Traverse City, MI. This 6-month contract role focuses on desktop and end-user support across office and manufacturing operations, with on-site responsibilities and training provided.

The ideal candidate will assist with Windows desktops, printers, Kronos timecard devices, and Microsoft 365, while documenting work and escalating more complex issues as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in desktop or help desk IT support preferred.
• Foundational experience troubleshooting Windows hardware, printers, and peripherals.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 support and Active Directory tasks.
• Willingness to learn server and virtualization support tasks with guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 and routine Tier 2 support for Windows desktops, laptops, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and replace computers, printers, tablets, handheld devices, and other peripherals using established procedures.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Perform routine Active Directory tasks, such as password resets and approved user or group updates.
• Support Kronos timecard devices, with training and guidance from the IT team.
• Assist with basic network and server/virtual machine support under the direction of experienced team members.
• Assist with hardware deployments, refreshes, upgrades, and data migrations.
• Maintain accurate tickets, technical documentation, and hardware, software, and licensing inventory records.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams, vendors, and managed service providers as directed.
• Follow site safety requirements, support procedures, and escalation guidelines.
• Participate in after‑hours support as needed.
