Job summary

Cal State LA is seeking a Junior Graphics Designer Assistant to support the Graphics & Marketing Director with diverse design tasks for the U-SU. The role includes creating digital assets for web and social campaigns and assisting with photoshoots and events on campus.

The position is an academic-year, up to 20 hours per week, with a two-month training period and potential extension. Strong teamwork and customer service skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum of 6 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum Cal State LA cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0.
• Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff.
• Ability to interact positively and build effective working relationships.
• Willingness to provide effective customer service promptly and courteously.
• Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties and varied tasks.
• Strong interpersonal and group communication skills in a team environment.
• Must be self-motivated, able to adjust to changing workloads, and have some independent judgment.
• Proficient oral, written, and listening skills.
• Experience using various desktop and web-based applications and office equipment.
• Experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, MacIntosh applications, and printing preferred.
• Knowledgeable and understanding of social media platforms preferred.

• Assists with projects and events and may assist staff with leading Production Aide on projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Rate:$18.65 per hour; non-exempt classification

Duration: Academic Year (Fall/Spring) with the possibility of extension

Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours/week (no more than 999 hours per calendar year). Schedule developed with the Graphics & Marketing Director

General Statement:

Under the general supervision of the Graphics & Marketing Director, the Junior Graphics Designer Assistant provides design support to the University-Student Union (U-SU). The Junior Graphics Designer Assistant is responsible for performing varied design tasks and projects for the effective operation of the U-SU Graphics department.
