Job summary

Sierra Space is hiring a Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer I in Colorado to support development and analysis of spacecraft systems. This entry-level role offers growth in control design, Kalman filtering, and Monte Carlo simulations under senior guidance.

You will develop MATLAB scripts, work with SIMULINK and STK, analyze sensor data from IMUs and GPS, and help integrate GNC software with HITL simulations. A U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Foundational knowledge of statics, dynamics, control systems and orbital mechanics.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and familiarity with SIMULINK, STK, and version control tools.
• Basic understanding of GNC sensors like IMUs and GPS.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, analysis, and implementation of GNC algorithms including classical control and Kalman filtering.
• Support GNC mode transitions analysis and performance evaluations for spacecraft systems.
• Develop MATLAB scripts and models to analyze GNC subsystems and integrate with SIMULINK and STK.
• Interpret data from GNC sensors and collaborate to integrate GNC flight software and HITL simulations.
• Document results and communicate findings to team and stakeholders.
