Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer III to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced GNC systems for spacecraft applications. This mid-level role targets engineers with deep control theory knowledge and embedded systems expertise.

The role involves owning GNC design, Monte Carlo simulations, and HITL testing, while mentoring junior engineers and driving aerospace innovation within the team. Active TS/SCI eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in dynamic modelling and GNC algorithm design.
• Advanced skills in SIMULINK, State Flow, Python, and C++ with SIMULINK auto coding.
• Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and validation of GNC systems for spacecraft.
• Create high-fidelity models for GNC sensors/actuators (IMUs, GPS, LIDAR).
• Perform Monte Carlo simulations and HITL testing; mentor juniors.
• Ensure robust closed-loop operation across multiple flight modes.
