Job summary

Sierra Space seeks a Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer III to lead design, development, and validation of advanced GNC systems for spacecraft. This mid-level role requires deep control theory knowledge, complex GNC algorithms, and embedded systems expertise.

You will perform Monte Carlo simulations, HITL testing, develop high-fidelity models for IMUs, GPS, LIDAR, and Air Data Systems, and mentor junior engineers while driving innovation in aerospace tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• Master's degree preferred for 3+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of related experience in dynamic modelling and GNC algorithm design.
• Advanced skills in SIMULINK, State Flow, Python, and C++ programming, with SIMULINK auto coding and Linux/UNIX.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and validation of advanced GNC systems for spacecraft applications.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive innovation in aerospace technology.
• Develop high-fidelity models for GNC sensors/actuators (IMUs, GPS, LIDAR, Air Data).
• Set up Monte Carlo simulations and perform stability analyses.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure compliance with system-level objectives.
