Job summary

Sierra Space is hiring a Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer II to design, analyze, and implement advanced GNC systems for spacecraft. You will develop, implement, and evaluate GNC algorithms and work with SIMULINK and STK to model sensors and actuators, including IMUs, GPS, star trackers, and reaction control systems.

The role requires 2+ years in dynamic modeling and GNC algorithm design, with strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical field.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in dynamic modeling and GNC algorithm design.
• Fundamental knowledge of GNC algorithms and experience with designing at least one of guidance, navigation, control, or FDIR algorithms.
• Understanding of IMUs, GPS, star trackers, RCS, non-propulsive actuators (Reaction Wheels, Magnetic Torquer Bars, Control Moment Gyros), and LIDAR.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate GNC algorithms for spacecraft applications.
• Program and optimize simulations using SIMULINK and STK, and model GNC sensors/actuators.
• Analyze performance, run Monte Carlo simulations, and validate functionality in test environments.
