Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer in Herndon, VA to support design, analysis, and documentation for electrical projects such as substations, power distribution, and renewable energy systems under supervision.

You will collect and analyze data, prepare basic engineering calculations, assist with drawings and procurement packages, ensure compliance with applicable codes, and gain hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary, safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
0–1 year of post-education experience.
Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, and regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication for engineering audiences.
Ability to work independently or in a team under supervision.
Knowledge of discipline-specific design software (CADD, Aspen, CAPE, AutoCAD Electrical).

Responsibilities

Assist with substation design, single/three-line diagrams, and grounding design.
Perform basic electrical calculations for loads and circuit sizing.
Prepare documentation and procurement packages with accurate data.
Support safety procedures and compliance documentation.
Contribute to site data collection, drawings, and field logs.
