Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, modification, and analysis of electrical power systems for power plants and industrial facilities. You will work on projects ranging from retrofit to new generation installations and renewables, under a project lead in a team environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a BS in Electrical Engineering with strength in power systems, and will collaborate across design activities, calculations, and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• Essential skills include a BS in Electrical Engineering and emphasis in power systems.
• Familiarity with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Utilize and expand Electrical Engineering background on projects including power plant retrofit, new generation installations, renewable energy, and industrial facilities.
• Work in a project team with engineers and designers on electrical systems design, modification, and analysis.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
• Prepare functional design drawings (single line, relay and metering, cable block, schematic diagrams) and documentation for design input and 3-D modeling.
• Prepare detailed calculations (auxiliary power studies, voltage drop, relay settings, arc flash).
• Interface with vendors for bills of material and equipment specifications.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and site verification; may require some travel.
