Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to advance power distribution design for existing plants and new installations. You will work under a project lead in a team setting with engineers and designers focused on electrical systems, drawings, and calculations for equipment procurement.

The role emphasizes design accuracy, collaboration, and adherence to codes. Chicago-based with potential travel, requiring a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering required; emphasis on power systems preferred.
• Familiar with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems and equipment selection.
• Knowledge of design techniques and tools for technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Based in Chicago, IL with possible travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical power distribution designs and prepare specifications for major equipment procurement.
• Prepare functional design drawings including single line, relay and metering, cable block, and schematic diagrams.
• Prepare calculations: arc flash, voltage drop, protective relay settings.
• Interface with vendors to prepare BOMs and equipment specifications.
• Coordinate with project lead to ensure designs comply with codes and client requirements.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and site verification.
